The senior team had a 1 point win over Coolera on Sunday last. A speedy recovery is wished to Steven King who was injured in this match and will miss most of the season. The team are at home versus Easkey this week end. See scoreboard for more details.

Both the under 9 and Under 13 indoor hurling teams were defeated by Coolera in the county finals held on Thursday last in Collooney. Many thanks to Leo Gaughan for his dedication to training the teams this season.

The Under 14 boys were winners when they travelled to Drumcliffe on Wednesday  last in the Feile competition. The team are due to play Curry in the next round.

Training continues on Mondays at 6:00pm for the under 10 and under 12 teams

On Friday last the under 16 team had a good win over an under strength Calry team. On Friday May 4 the team are away to Drumcliffe in the last match of the league.

The under 12 league began on Tuesday last when the team travelled to St. Mary’s The result was unavailable at time of press This league will continue over the next 8 weeks.

Congratulations to Under 12 player Ann Marie Kelly who finished  third with the Sligo   Olympic handball team in the All Ireland competition held in Sligo recently.

Congratulations also to our Under 12 girls who won silver medals in the Under 13  Community Games Basketball competition.

The 2001 Indoor Hurling finals will be held in the Teeling Centre on Thursday April 26 at 5:00pm. Our under 9 and under 13 teams will contest the finals facing Calry and Coolera respectively. Your support of the teams would be appreciated.

Congratulations to Aoife Henry and Aisling Egan who represented Tourlestrane on the Sligo under 14 girls team. The team faced Leitrim on Saturday last in Coolera and ran out overwhelming winners.

The senior team suffered their first defeat of the season on Sunday last when an under strength team travelled to Easkey to contest the Pick and Choose League.

The senior league resumes on Sunday April 29th when the team take on Coolera in Tourlestrane

Bingo continues on Tuesday nights in Banada Abbey Hall, at the later time of 9:00pm. A prize fund of £1100 is guaranteed each night. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

On Easter Sunday, April 15, the first of our members draws for 2001 was held in Henry’s Village Inn, Tourlestrane.  Congratulations to senior player James Curley  who was the winner of the top prize of £300. Other winners  included Jimmy & Lorraine Cunney, Tommie O’Hara, and  Brendan and Maureen Walsh. Consolation prizes of £50 were won by. Enda Gavaghan, Gerry McGowan, Paddy Kerins, Seamus Goulden, Patrick Flynn, Michael and Kathlen Marren, Jimmy O’Hara, Anthony & Maura Brennan, Roy Leheny, and Patrick Gavigan. Once again thank you to all who supported this draw to  further promote Gaelic games in the parish. The second draw will be held at Christmas.

The minor team were defeated by Curry on Monday night last. The game played in Curry was a scrappy affair where Curry had 6 points to spare over a young Tourlestrane minor team.

All under 16 games due to be played on Friday last were postponed due to the under 21 Connacht final being played in Castlebar. These games will be rescheduled at a later date.

The senior team had a good win over Castleconnor on Saturday last in the Pick and Choose League.

The first of our club draws will be held on Easter Sunday April 16, 2001 at 10:00pm, in Henry’s Village Inn, Tourlestrane. A total prize fund of £1250 will be won on the night. Anyone who has not been approached by club members regarding the draw can contact club officers for a subscription.

All members who have outstanding draw tickets are asked to make their returns to Treasurer,  Austin Walsh or any member of the finance committee by Saturday, April 15, 2001.

The under 16 match versus Ballymote due to be played on Friday last was cancelled when the referee failed to show. Apologies to all those who were inconvenienced. The game scheduled for Friday April 13, 2001 is unsure as the Sligo Under 21 team are in action.

Good luck is wished to the Sligo Under 21 team as they face Mayo in the Connacht final on Friday April 13, 2001 in Castlebar. Padraig Brennan, Steven King, and Patrick Egan will represent Tourlestrane.

The senior team had a 4 point victory over neighbours Tubbercurry in the Pick and Choose League played in Tourlestrane on Saturday last. A speedy recovery is wished to Declan Egan who was injured in this match.

Our Under 9 and Under 13 Indoor Hurling teams have advanced to the quarter final stage of the competition to be played in Banada Abbey Hall (tonight) April 11, 2001 at 7:00pm. Your support would be appreciated.

The very best of luck is wished to Anthony Brennan who has taken up the position of manager with Fr. Manning Gaels in Longford.

Castlerock NS met Mullaghroe NS in Gurteen, in the first round of the Cumann Na mBunscoil competition, on Friday last. The girls team were defeated by Mullaghroe while the boys team earned their first victory in the competition. Reports of the Cumann na mBunscoil games should be sent to Cathy for publication here.

Due to the recent spell of bad weather the pitch is closed for training and games. All enquiries to Michael Marren or Neil Egan.
